UBC Student Association of Sinology (USAS)——UBC 漢學社
UBC Student Association of Sinology (USAS), UBC 漢學社, is a student-led interest group dedicated to promoting a deeper understanding of Chinese culture through program planning and implementation.
Three programs are currently underway.
UCCS (漢學論壇)
USAS is honored and privileged to serve on the preparation committee of the annual Undergraduate Conference of Chinese Studies (UCCS). Following the success of the first UCCS in 2020, USSS will host the second UCCS in 2022. Our goal is to develop UCCS into a leading undergraduate academic event in North America.
Fraser Literary Review （“萬卷”雜誌）
Fraser Literary Review, initiated by USAS, is a weekly Ezine. It aims at creating a dynamic and inclusive intellectual discourse. Subscribe and follow us on WeChat. As the editorial board, USAS seeks submissions of writings on varied topics. Please do not hesitate to submit your work including, but not limited to, literature review, essay, art criticism, film criticism, non-fiction, custom studies, historical investigation, argumentative essay, artwork, photography, video clips, etc. Rewards are to be given upon publication.
Cultural Clubs (文化研習俱樂部)
Another mission of USAS is to inspire and nurture creative minds. Not only do we listen to your ideas, but we also relay them to a wider audience and help you get closer to your dreams. For instance, the ENLIGHT Movie Club, created by a group of passionate UBC students, is the first extension of USAS. Join and bring your ideas about sub-groups to USAS.
We hope that under our efforts and your support, the USSS will become one of the hallmarks of UBC life!
